Can
the spam filtering system be used for an individual account (not the
whole domain)?
Well,
yes, and no. If your current e-mail provider can forward your e-mail
to us, then we can setup a secure mail account on our system for
you. If they cannot do this, then the answer is no, we have to filter
for the entire domain.
What
is a whitelist?
A
whitelist is a list of sender e-mail addresses where, if the e-mail
is from a member in the list, the e-mail will be allowed to pass
through the filtering system without being tagged as spam, regardless
of the content of the e-mail message. For example, if a friend sends
you a dirty joke in e-mail, and the e-mails are getting marked as
spam, you could add your friend's name to your whitelist so their
e-mail will not get tagged as spam.
What
is a blacklist?
A
blacklist is a list of e-mail sender addresses where if an e-mail
arrives with a from address of someone in the blacklist, the e-mail
will automatically be tagged as spam, regardless of the content
of the e-mail.
What
is the format for adding entries to a whitelist or blacklist?
To
add a whole domain, use the format
*@domain.com
To
add a single user, use the format
user@domain.com
Can
I whitelist or blacklist an entire domain?
Yes,
see the answer to the question above.
How
do users automatically throw away e-mail marked as spam?
Well,
that depends on what program your users use for e-mail. In most
e-mail programs you setup filters or rules so that when the e-mail
program sees one of our tags, it knows the e-mail is spam, and takes
the action that the user wants.
Or,
you could set the delete hits parameter to a value where
if the email message hits is above this value, we do not deliver
the message to the end user.
