When
you start a new securemail email account, you may not have any messages
yet. Here is a screenshot of an empty
mailbox. One of the key areas to note is the toolbar across the
top. From the toolbar you could go directly to your inbox, compose
a new email, change to view emails in a different folder, configure
your options (more on this below), search messages, help screens,
select your address book, and so on... Also note there is a shortened
toolbar at the bottom of the screen to allow you to quickly navigate
to different parts of the system.
After
you have gotten used to the securemail system, you may find that you
would like to customize how the mail system looks or acts to your
preferences. As mentioned above, click on the Options
button in the top toolbar to receive the following menu
of customizable options. Please note the Mail Management
options, allowing you to create mail filters, and the ability to automatically
sort email into different folders. There are also automatic Maintenance
Operations to help with housekeeping of mail folders.
Next
is an example of creating and sending an email. This is a screenshot
of the Compose screen. Note how you can select addresses
from your address book, do spell checking, and save drafts or sent
mail into folders. You can add attachments by using a normal file
browser of the files on your system, and you can and request return
reciepts.
So let's
assume that Hermione sent the email in the previous example to us,
so that we now have some email in our Inbox. We can click on the Inbox
icon to let us view the messages in our Inbox. Let's see how
our mailbox looks when we receive an email. Notice how the mail
message lines are color coded to help us destinquish messages we've
read from ones we haven't read (or sent a reply, etc). Also note that
by default, the messages are sorted by time, but that is also configurable.
If we
click on the message from Hermione, we can read
the new message. Note that you can do things like delete, reply,
reply to all, forward, redirect, blacklist, view message source, save
as (save the message on your computer), or print the message. You
can also move or copy the message to another folder. You could even
click on the little address book icon to the right of
Hermione's name to add Hermione to your address book.
